There are moments in hospitality that feel pretty significant, and this month has given us more than one reason to feel incredibly proud.
We were recently named the seventh best restaurant in the UK by SquareMeal, and we want to say a huge thank you to all of the people who voted for us. To be recognised on a national stage is something we do not take lightly. It belongs as much to our brilliant guests (truly the best in the country) as it does to our extraordinary team, who bring warmth, precision and care to every service.
Adding to that celebration, we were also awarded an OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award for Most Romantic, a reflection of the atmosphere, generosity and little moments that make The Greyhound what it is. Thank you for choosing to spend your anniversaries, celebrations and quiet evenings with us. Here’s to many more!
Beyond the dining room, we were honoured to receive a mention in Parliament from Joy Morrissey MP, who recognised our apprenticeship programme and the opportunities it creates for young people. Providing training, structure, and a pathway into hospitality is something we care deeply about. Supporting young talent as they grow in confidence and skill is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, and it’s a commitment we are determined to continue.
Across the UK, pubs, cafés and restaurants are the beating heart of their communities. With ongoing conversations around VAT and the future of local hospitality, we remain hopeful that meaningful support will ensure these vital spaces can continue to thrive. This year we’ve been investing in growth in a slightly different way. Being a strong team isn’t just about performing well, it’s about continuing to grow.
Our team already delivers at a high standard, but recently we welcomed Luke and Tom from Matrix Performance to work alongside us, giving us the guidance and tools to take things even further, both individually and together.
With Luke and Tom’s support, we’re learning how to find that extra one percent, small improvements, sharper focus, smarter outcomes, all building on the strengths we already have.
