Welcoming friends, old and new to the Greyhound Beaconsfield
Welcoming friends, old and new to the Greyhound Beaconsfield
We wanted to take the opportunity to thank everybody for the overwhelming support we’ve had since we opened The Greyhound at the beginning of the month.
The Greyhound is a childhood dream come true and we are delighted that we have been able to breathe life into this old Grade II listed coaching inn and transform it into a contemporary and comfortable pub and restaurant while keeping the original features which make it so unique. Every element has been hand-picked with guests’ comfort in mind and we really hope that everyone enjoys coming here as much as we love welcoming them.
It has been so good to see so many old friends during our first few weeks of service, and great to have made so many new ones.
We have always known the community here in Beaconsfield is wonderful and we are delighted to have seen so many people join us for lunch, dinner or even a quick drink in our Winter bar.
It has also been fantastic to have been visited by people from further afield who have seen what we are doing – we even had visits from Paris and Brussels last week.
Don’t forget that we are open on New Year's Eve too and have a few tables remaining, so check out our special menu!
Huge thanks for your support and we wish you and your families a wonderful festive season and all the best for 2020.
What’s on The Greyhound menu
We are incredibly fortunate to have a team of talented chefs who really understand our vision. Whether it’s creating wonderful winter warmers made with the best seasonal ingredients, appealing to our vegetarian and vegan friends with mouth-watering tasting menus or presenting delicious snacks - bacon and egg crumpet anyone? - every single menu item is created with care and attention to detail. Our menus give you lots of different food options, so take a look at our full menu and see what you fancy.
What we’re eating
Venison, Pear, Mulled Wine & Blackberries
If you haven’t had a chance to try chef Sean Norton's venison dish, you really should.
The venison is locally sourced (we get it from a brilliant Berkshire supplier) and it is simply delicious. It’s a Roe Deer and we make sure we use all parts of the animal to show off its full potential.
As well as being sustainable, the lean meat is very fine in texture and has a unique and delicate flavour. It's moist, hearty and perfect for this time of year.
Chocolate crémeux
No meal is complete without a delectable dessert to follow and we think this is the perfect combination of richness and lightness. The ice cream is made with fresh mint which perfectly complements the richness of the chocolate crémeux and coconut cream. A wonderful end to a meal.
What we're drinking
A good dining experience isn’t just about the food, it’s also about good wine, which is why our wine list is extensive but also accessible to all. If you do have any questions about what wine would go with your meal, you just have to ask. All our staff are fully
2017 CROZES HERMITAGE, ‘Equinoxe’ Dom Equis, Maxime Graillot, France
This is a youthful Syrah with classic blackberries, ripe plums and pepper aromas.
It pairs beautifully with Sean’s Partridge dish which is served with Salt Baked Beetroot and Cavolo Nero.
The winemaker Maxime Graillot (who is the son of Alain Graillot) has converted to working his vines organically and with manual harvesting, which means he has restricted, low yields. It is a really delicious wine and perfect for the colder months.
The ‘Equinoxe’ is a modern interpretation of Crozes Hermitage for early drinking.
