June travel lunch club - Machu Picchu
Following the success of our first travel lunch club in March, which sold out within 24 hours, we’re thrilled to reveal our second event of the year will be taking place next month!
As you know, we’ve partnered with independent, family-owned travel business Moxley & Co to host expert speakers on a range of travel-related subjects. Next up, on 4 June, we’ll be hearing all about the history of Machu Picchu, and the conservation of this ancient Peruvian citadel, over a three-course lunch.
Gloria Camino will be talking us through the origin, urban planning and design of Machu Picchu, its connection with astronomy and Inca religion systems, and hypotheses as to its purpose. Born in Cusco, she has worked at the Instituto Nacional de Cultura (INC), which is like the National Trust and English Heritage in the UK, and her work on restoration of archaeological sites has included Machu Picchu itself.
The set menu will include North Sea smoked haddock ‘bacalhau’; Norfolk chicken thigh with mustard fregola and buttered Jersey Royal potatoes; and bread pudding with roasted vanilla ice cream and Victoria plum to finish the meal.
The event will start at 12 o’clock with a sparkling wine reception and tickets are £75 per person, including lunch, a glass of wine with the starter and main course, and tea and coffee.
To reserve your seat, give us a call on 01494 671315, being sure to mention you’re booking for the travel lunch club.
