November lunch club – An Antarctic Odyssey
We’re delighted to announce our next travel lunch club will take place on Wednesday 19 November. This one will be all about Antarctic exploration!
We’ll be hearing from Duncan Lavin, a retired civil servant who has found a new rhythm in retirement. His passion for travel has taken him to extraordinary destinations and he fulfilled a childhood dream when he was able to journey to Antarctica in 2017.
Duncan will touch on the history of polar exploration, South American fauna, the Falklands War, wildlife of the Weddell Sea and South Atlantic Ocean, and Uruguayan and Argentine history, as well as taking us through his exciting voyage in detail, accompanied by some stunning photography.
The delicious seasonal menu our chefs have put together for the event will include a spiced carrot and star anise soup; guinea fowl breast with boudin blanc, leeks and pressed thigh; and a Williams pear cake with buckwheat crumble and cardamom ice cream.
The event will start at 12pm with a sparkling wine reception and is great value at just £85 per person, including welcome bubbly, the three-course meal with wine, and tea and coffee afterwards accompanied by petit fours.
We’ve also already got our dates for next year’s travel lunch clubs, which will all be taking place on Wednesdays: 28 January, 29 April, 29 July and 28 October. We’ll announce the speakers and what they’ll be talking about closer to the time.
To reserve your seat, give us a call on 01494 671315, being sure to mention you’re booking for the travel lunch club.
