George Sweeney | Diners' Choice | Country Fayre
Many of you will know our brilliant chef George who has been with us for the last year and a half working his socks off. Well, we’ve given him an extremely well-deserved promotion to head chef!
George initially qualified from Bournemouth and Poole College after doing a three-year apprenticeship with the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts at the Langham Hotel in London. He then joined the team at the three-AA-rosette Sir Charles Napier restaurant in Oxfordshire in August 2020 where he was also quickly promoted to junior sous chef.
He joined us at the Greyhound at the beginning of 2023 and quickly moved up the ranks to senior sous chef. His cooking style is focussed on using seasonal, British produce, sourced from the best suppliers from across the UK, to create modern British dishes with a hint of nostalgia.
It’s been amazing seeing George progress during his time with us, alongside Jermaine who is off to enjoy more time with his family and start his own catering business.
We cannot wait to see how George's menus evolve.
And that's not all the good news - thanks to all the brilliant reviews you've been leaving us on OpenTable, we've not only been awarded a Diners' Choice Award as one of the top-rated restaurants in the area but also one of the most romantic restaurants in the UK!
This community means everything to us, we're so grateful to be here, for your custom and positivity, and we love giving back when we can. So it was great to support this year’s Beaconsfield Country Fayre once again. Each year we run the bar, which was this year raising funds for local charities and Cancer Research UK - it was great to see so many of you, thank you so much to everyone who came along.
